Ngọc, a young agriculture student, spends a holiday at the Long Giáng pagoda among the tea hills and befriends Lan, a gentle, clever novice. Little by little he suspects the novice is a girl, and a pure, quiet love grows within the temple walls. Khái Hưng's first novel, published in 1933, is a tender story of love set against religious devotion.
